Fluid has move into the hydration-only market with their new Performance sports drink. The original Fluid formula was a recovery drink with protein and glutamine that we reviewed positively a couple years ago, but is light enough to use during. The new version is a mix of Maltodextrin and Fructose with electrolytes. Three flavors: Blueberry Pomegranate, Raspberry Lemonade and Passionfruit Tea. The last one has 50mg caffeine per serving. MSRP will be $22.95 for 30 servings.
The Rim ‘Rench is an $18 tool that straightens small dents in your rims. It’s from a small machinist who also makes the T/R ale tool (get it, trail tool) that combines a tire lever, rotor straightener and bottle opener for $16. (will update with the mfr’s name later)
Kenda has a new tire from their Tinker Juarez signature series called the 24seven. It’s a low profile full knob design that’ll be available in both 26″ and 29er sizes. Target weight is around 450g, but it’s still about six months out, so that could change.
Kountach is their new high end road tire with their puncture protection only under the tread instead of bead to bead. This makes the tire lighter and more supple than the Kaliente Pro. Weight is about 185-190g for the 700×23, and they’re working on a 25 width. 120tpi casing.
Kriterium Endurance is a new all purpose tire for training or touring. full flat protection, available in a 23 and 25 width. 60tpi casing.
New Happy Medium and Slant Six Cyclocross tires that are both SCT (sealant compatible tire) so they can run tubeless. Happy Medium weights are 435g for the SCT and 380g for the tube type for the 700×32. Slant Six is 522g (SCT) and 433g (tubes) for 700×32.
Karve is a new urban tire for the fixie crowd. Weights range from 226g to 343g depending on color and size. Available in 23, 25 and 28 widths.
