Viva, Las Vegas. At least, that is, for one last year. Next week’s show, will mark the 13th and final year for the week long party in the desert. Not only will the venue be changing, but the dates as well with the new show being bumped up to start on August 1st. Dirt demo is tentatively scheduled to be held at Irvine Regional Park, the show then would move into the Anaheim Convention center on August 3rd through the 5th. Earlier buying cycles seems to be the key reason for the earlier show time, while perhaps trying to steal some of the thunder from Eurobike.
The move of the show marks the possible 3 year commitment Interbike is trying to work out with the Orange County City. While Vegas was a great venue for show-goers, with the ample hotel rooms, public transit, and cheap flights, Anaheim should be able to compete due to it’s proximity to Disney, multiple airports, and many convention hotels. The Convention Center offers an impressive 815,000 square foot exhibit area, and is also part of the Anaheim Resort which includes both Disney Parks, restaurants and bars.
Anaheim narrowly edged out Salt Lake City Utah for the honor of hosting the show, which was decided recently. I for one, will be sad to see Vegas go, but look forward to the change in scenery in the coming years.
