Despite Astana’s denials yesterday, Vanity Fair (which used the above photo by Annie Leibovitz in a 1999 article) has now published an article with Lance saying “I’m going back to professional cycling.  I’m going to try and win an eighth Tour de France.”
If you don’t have time to read the whole VF article, skip to the 2nd page, then scroll half way down, that’s where he drops the bomb on the reporter.
This should boost the TV ratings for the TDF to astronomical levels and make for some very, very entertaining tour coverage.  Now, I just have to eat enough to hibernate until July 2009…
