Zero Gravity, who just put out the superlight ‘cross brakes we posted about, has released their limited edition Olympian road brake set to commemorate Kristin Armstrong’s Gold Medal performance in the Olympic Time Trial.  This Al/Ti brakeset is the lightest they offer weighing in at 192g for the complete set with pads!  (Dura-Ace and Campy’s Record Skeleton both weigh about 100g more)  There are only 300 of these puppies being made, and they’ve already been sold to distributors, so if you want one, call your shop right now and tell them to order from Hawley or SBA.  MSRP is $500 beans.

Designed with Brian Malloy (aka “New England Red Devil”) of Hub Bikes in Athens, GA, the “NERD” is a red anodized version of the Negative-G brakeset but with all Ti hardware for a weight of 214g/pair with pads.  There were originally 666 made, and all remaining units are available exclusively through Hub Bikes.  Give ’em a shout at 706-355-3989.  MSRP is, wait for it…$666.
Zero Gravity brakes are handmade, CNC’d from 7075 Aluminum with a mix of Al, SS (stainless) and Ti hardware depending on the model.  Besides the sleek mechanical look and obscenely light weight, what separates ZG brakes from the pack is their PowerCam leverage feature.  A mechanical lever increases the ratio of pad movement to cable pull as you pull the brakes, meaning you get more stopping power with less effort.  There’s a great animated video on the “PowerCam” tab on their website.
