Sleek aerodynamics are in, and the original truss design is out, for the all-new Kogel Speed Kolossos derailleur cage upgrade. Everything you loved about the original, even the same price – just now faster than ever with bigger pulleys, once again more stiffness from a new aerodynamic CNC-machined design, and even new Cerakote colors for a more understated aesthetic.
Kogel Speed Kolossos is a stiffer, more aero derailleur upgrade

More than 5 years ago ceramic bearing maker Kogel jumped into the oversized derailleur pulley game with bright anodized colors and the unique Kolossos truss-design that they claimed was 3x stiffer than other derailleur cage upgrades on the market.
Now they are back with an evolved oversized derailleur pulley upgrade solution. It promises increased stiffness for more precise shifts, a smooth machined profile for decreased aerodynamic drag, bigger 20T lower pulleys for reduced drivetrain friction, and more road & gravel drivetrain compatibility.

“Kogel was founded on the principle of making riders faster and bikes more efficient. The new Speed Kolossos delivers all of the gains and robust reliability we’re known for with the modern aesthetic and customization options discerning cyclists demand.”
– Ard Kessels, Kogel founder
What’s new?

Not taking it quite as far as the fully-cowled Aero Kolossos, this new Speed Kolossos promises smoother airflow and a more integrated look with modern bikes and their ‘sleek’ derailleurs. Kogel says it is stiffer than ever, still making it the “stiffest design on the market for precise shifts no matter how hard you’re pedaling on the roughest gravel courses“.
We haven’t seen the backside of it, but Kogel says the new Speed Kolossos is “as light as ever” averaging 98g, so it likely still includes some complex weight-saving machining on its inner faces, too.
Besides the new aero look, the Speed Kolossos also upgrades one extra tooth to 20T for the new oversized aluminum lower pully. Upper cogs still are either 12T or 14T depending on the derailleur model.
Tech details

All aluminum pulleys still spin on premium Kogel ceramic bearings with dry condition-specific Road bearing seals for the lowest possible friction. Kogel also offers Cross bearing seals separately, that you can swap in place for regular riding in wet or dusty conditions.

- Shimano 12sp – Dura-Ace, Ultegra & 105 (both Di2 & mechanical)
- Shimano 11sp – Dura-Ace, Ultegra & 105 (both Di2 & mechanical)
- Shimano GRX – all 2x versions 11sp & 12sp (both Di2 & mechanical)
- SRAM Red AXS E1 12sp (latest 2024 version)
- SRAM 12sp – Red AXS & Force AXS (Rival AXS compatibility, coming soon)
*reminder, you’ll probably need to also buy a new chain if you install one of these in place of the original stock derailleur cage.

The new Kogel Speed Kolossos is offered to fit pretty much all of the latest and previous generation Shimano and SRAM road bike and 2x gravel bike drivetrains (see full list above). It officially replaces the original truss design, which looks like it will be phased out when stock runs out (and is currently available at a $100 discount).
Pricing starts at $500 in standard black or raw aluminum anodized finishes.

A limited Black Gold Cerakote launch edition appears to sell for the same price while they last.
But then special edition Cerakote colors will cost an extra hundred bucks. And fully custom Cerakote colors will also be possible, bringing the price up to $650. You can even get a custom color-matched Kogel bottom bracket if you want to make your bike look extra fancy. *Custom ano & Cerakote colors will add a week or two to deliveries.
