Kona Bicycles‘ Ouroboros line of drop-bar adventure bikes is a good-looking bunch. With long chainstays, slack headtube angles, and plenty of mounting points, they are unique and purpose-built. Many iterations, specs, and frame materials are available. And now, you can get one in a more affordable aluminum frame, too.
Kona Ouroboros AL affordable 6061 aluminum adventure

The Kona Ouroboros is a bike that is said to be “impressively capable”. It’s decked out with no-nonsense componentry that is reliable and delivers consistent performance. Kona says the whole Ouroboros is specifically designed to escape into the wilderness and stay off the grid, and this new aluminum version makes that more affordable than ever!

What Kona Says About the Ouroboros
Kona combined “the best parts of their award-winning gravel bikes, and the enchanting characteristics of their iconic mountain bikes, and delivered a drop bar bike that doesn’t rip by accident.”
“The Ouroboros is a construct – a shapeshifter, if you will. We’ve offered you four forms, but maybe you need more. Maybe you need less. Maybe it’s time we step aside and let you work your own magic. Choose from a carbon frameset or an aluminum one, both equipped with an Ouroboros carbon fork. Dream up the ultimate build for the deepest corners of the world—and conjure it into reality”.

Kona Ouoboros Spec Highlights

- Suntour GVX 32 – 40mm travel gravel suspension fork with direct flat mount brake, 12x100mm thru-axle, adjustable rebound damping, and a lockout.
- Maxxis Ravager TL EXO 700x50mm – Fast-rolling tubeless tires, but still aggressive enough to grab the corners.
- 125mm travel TransX Dropper Post, 125mm w/ integrated lever – A 31.6 diameter dropper with dedicated left brake lever-integrated remote keeps your hand on the bars. The diameter means a beefy, durable dropper, and a common size to easily source a replacement at the end of its service life.
- Microshift 11-48t 10-speed drivetrain – Big range cassette on a classic Shimano HG freehub, with excellent gear gaps to keep things simple and offer consistent shifting.
