LeBron James’s 2009 State Farm King for Kids Bike-a-thon

LeBron James, 2009 NBA MVP, will host his annual King for Kids Bike-a-thon August 22, 2009. The event is held in Akron, Ohio and is a fundraiser to support the Akron area YMCA, Akron Urban League and other efforts of the Lebron James Family Foundation. 

James says he has been riding since he was three and riding for conditioning for about seven years. Although he doesn’t ride during the NBA season, he does get to ride 3 or 4 times a week in the off season. At a towering 6′ 8″ James has been riding custom built Cannondales for several years. And in 2007, Cannondale announced that James had bought an undisclosed portion of the company. When you’re Lebron James AND you own a portion of the company, you get a few perks; like 24kt gold “King James” decals on the frame and bikes for your friends.
