The new Limar Tonale mountain bike helmet combines light weight, extended enduro-ready protection & big open vents, all with low-key styling and an affordable price tag. Filling the gap between Limar’s enduro half-shell and their low-cost XC helmet, the Tonale offers all-mountain security for any off-road adventure.
Limar Tonale affordable all-mountain bike helmet
Limar already has the lightweight enduro & ebike-certified 140€ Delta for mountain bikers looking for the most protection possible out of a half-shell, and the super low-cost 80€ vented Alben for XC coverage – both of which include MIPS options for 30-40€ extra. Now sitting in between, this new Tonale combines the enduro-ready coverage with the ventilation for long days climbing trails.
Tech details
The new Tonale is a lightweight all-mountain helmet with extended coverage on the sides at your temples and in the rear reaching down further over the nape of your next for extra occipital impact protection.
The 310g (M), 360g (L) helmet is made of conventional EPS foam with a 2-piece all-around in-mold polycarbonate shell.
It features 4 large front vents, 2 more under the adjustable visor to cool your temples, 4 over the top of its shell, and 5 exhaust vents at the rear.
Its non-allergenic pads are removable & washable, and gets a height-adjustable Air Fit Evo dial retention system, plus a standard webbing chin strap & buckle.
The Tonale does not include the option for extra MIPS anti-rotational protection yet, so for now you’d have to look at the Delta or Alben for that.
Update: There’s a MIPS version now, too, featuring a lightweight MIPS Air Node padding system for 10-15mm of rotational impact protection.
Limar availability, plus MyLimar custom in the USA
The new Limar Tonale sells for 130€ in two sizes M (53-57) & L (57-61cm). A Tonale + MIPS-equipped version, now also sells for $180 / 180€ in the same size and weight claims.
It is available now in five muted matte colors – Amaranth red, Dark green, Dark blue, gray & black – for all sorts of trail, all-mountain, and enduro adventure riding.
Limar has also recently announced that they are expanding their presence in the US market. The new Tonale isn’t quite available there yet (coming soon in 2023). But they have just opened up the MyLimar custom helmet graphics program that we covered before, now in the states for small teams and cycling clubs looking for that pro custom look.
