Limited Edition Raleigh SSCXWC13 Philly Cyclocross Frameset

Every year, Raleigh puts together a limited edition cyclocross frameset to celebrate the Singlespeed Cyclocross World Championships. This year’s edition celebrates Philadelphia, the hometown for the 2013 event.

The promoters wanted to do a steel, disc brake ready model, so the frame will have a few conveniences some single speeders may never use. Like a derailleur hanger. Raleigh’s man about town Brian Fornes said: “We looked at creating a new drop out to make it a dedicated SS…but ran out of time to create something new. So we stuck with our LandLord frame design. Modified the geometry, upgraded the tubing, and slimmed the drop out by using the one from our new Tamland.”

Only 50 will be made, and proceeds go directly to funding the race itself. Order now if you want’un, and it’ll deliver in January.

Pricing and what to do with that hanger below…

Suggested cut marks for turning your bike into a “pure” singlespeed, with or without a bottle opener.

Retail is $667, or just a bit better than evil. Frame is Reynolds 525 chromoly and ships with an FSA integrated cartridge bearing headset, the fork and an eccentric bottom bracket. Yep, we knew you were wondering what would make it singlespeed.

Order yours on the event website here, and check out some past framesets here and here.

Raleigh you are a joke.

a frame to celebrate ss cx championships. Ran out of time??? cut stuff off the frame??? eccentric bb?????? rack mounts????????? = limited edition ss frame! OH WAIT IT HAS “special” paint and graphics, AND you can carve a bottle opener out of the frame.

I had the carbon Raleigh sscxwc frameset and it was really nice: weight, ride, paint, enve fork. Especially for the price ($1200 iirc).

Kudos to the guys at Raleigh for making a nice fundraiser item for a fun event every year.

This is stupid. Why would you have to cut off the derailler tab to make the bike into a single speed?

I like that they made it useful by including a derailleur hanger and hardware mounts.

This is not nearly as cool as some of their older SSCX frames. The year my city gets a commemorative bike it turns out to be the $hittie$st one of them all. Unbranded Chinese “carbon” ebay frames have better design and less garish paintjobs.

Man there be the haters out today!! You guys need to live a little.
Cutting the frame however does make me wonder about warranty?

@wehoo – LOL. They probably ran out of time to do a proper design.

Why is this frame that is supposed to commemorate single speed world championships not a single speed specific with sliders?

Doesn’t even work for geared set-ups, with no cable stops. Should have just done rear-facing or swing-arm drops.

Yeah, that’s a pretty terrible excuse for a singlespeed commemorative frame. Not like there aren’t literally HUNDREDS of different SS dropiouts available…

Also, what’s with the really, REALLY bad geometry chart? The seattube length is measured horizontally? What the flying f**k? How is that a thing?
