Launched by pro cyclists Tom Pidcock and Jacques Sauvagnargues, the new Link My Ride app lets you find, create, and manage group rides anywhere in the world.
Or, for now, anywhere there are other users to join. It’s fresh, and adoption rates will determine its success, but it’s an idea that I’ve had myself that serves a real need for finding other cyclists to ride with.
The app is available on iOS and Android and is free to download and use as an individual cyclist. You can search by area for rides, riders, and clubs, just make sure you get your username exactly how you want when signing up…you can’t change it afterward!
Within the app, you can control who can see you and your location to preserve privacy. Turn notifications and location tracking on or off, too.
Once you find rides you want to join, you can add them to your calendar. Or create your own group rides and share the link or invite other users. It looks like a great tool for travelers trying to find someone to ride with away from home.
The pair received provide funding from the Dutch Sport Tech Fund to fuel their launch. While it’s free for users, they’re monetizing with a paid Club management portal (£240/year) that makes it easy to manage a cycling club’s members, rides, and details.
A Club account lets you approve or deny membership to unlimited members, message everyone, and set rides as public or club-only. Club managers have secure access to the member list, can add GPX files and route links, and edit ride details after their created.
