Lōgōs Components has introduced the latest evolution in its XC race wheel lineup: Gída SL XC. This new wheelset, weighing a highly-respectable 1240g, sets the stage for what might be the lightest, most capable XC wheels available today.

Why Gída? Named after the Greek word for “goat,” the Gída SL is a nod to climbing prowess and “Greatest Of All Time” status. The jury is still out on the latter, though these modernly wide, lightweight, and serviceable wheels excite us.

The new iteration builds on the foundation of the original Gída wheelset, which was already highly regarded for its balance of strength and weight. The new SL version, however, takes it up a notch by shedding over 150 grams while delivering wider, thicker, and more compliant rims for aggressive XC and marathon racing.

What’s New?

The Gída SL sees a redesign that includes increased rim width and thickness. The rim boasts a 30mm internal width, 35.9mm external width,  and 20.7mm depth, with a 2.5mm asymmetry and a weight of 295g.

Lōgōs claims these adjustments enhance lateral stiffness and compliance, making for improved handling and comfort across technical terrain.

Featherweight Build

At just 1240 grams, the Gída SL is among the lightest wheelsets on the market. This weight reduction doesn’t compromise its robust build.

Refined Hub Architecture

Lōgōs retained its signature dual-spring star ratchet hub system, which ensures high engagement, durability, and consistency. Further weight savings come from Lōgōs’ Gen2 arché | os SL hubset. Coming in at just 316g/set, even less with their Enduro XD-15 Ceramic-Hybrid upgrade option.

One area where Lōgōs did not reduce weight is spokes and nipples. Opting for 28 Sapim CX-Rays per wheel laced 3-cross with external brass nipples adds approximately 90 grams relative to a 24-spoke count.

Why? Lōgōs states longevity and serviceability, and we tend to agree.

Tried-and-True Spoke Design

The Gída SL maintains its predecessor’s 28-spoke count, 3-cross lacing pattern, and external brass nipples. This combination continues to prioritize strength, easy maintenance, and long-term reliability.
