LOOK grows their performance MTB flat pedal lineup with new Trail ROC+ and Trail Fusion platforms. Slotting in with one composite pedal below and one alloy pedal above their current Trail ROC, these two new platform pedals give mountain bikers options at all price points for off-road grip.

Look debuted a set of forged alloy Trail ROC pedals two years ago with a big platform, 12 adjustable pins per side, and a conventional bearing + bushing setup for pretty standard durability.

Now they’ve built on that same concept with a more premium forged & machined alloy Trail ROC+ and a lower-cost composite Trail Fusion.

What’s new?

Both new pedals still get a big platform, but are slightly reduced overall from the ROC – the new Trail ROC+ is 107 x 107mm (3mm smaller) and the Fusion is 107 x 105mm (incrementally smaller front to back).

They also get reshaped with fewer, more carefully replaceable placed pins… refined with layout input and durability testing by pro slopestyle & freerider Thomas Genon.

The 16mm thick alloy ROC+ gets 10 pins per side with various heights from 4.5-6mm to give a feel like a concave pedal.

The 18mm thick plastic Fusion dials back to 8 pins per side, dropping one front & back as the pins are offset through the composite body. Here the pins range from 3.5-6mm to give that same pseudo-concave feel.

The new pedals are also both lighter than the originals. The premium forged alloy ROC+ pedal has been asymmetrically machined down to save weight to a claimed 195g per pedal – our test sample was a bit more at 201g (402g for a pair). And the injection molded composite body Fusion pedal is even lighter at claimed 161g – ours tipped in at 165g (330g for the pair).

Look hadn’t mentioned it in their first-generation trail flats, but now… both of these pedals are made entirely in France.

What’s the same?

These new Trail ROC+ & Trail Fusion pedals appear to spin on the same chromoly axles, with one inboard bushing and 2 outboard bearings. We rode and abused the original Trail ROCs through the Scottish winter, and they fared about as well as most other pedals, meaning you will need to service them to keep them spinning if you ride in tough conditions.

With that said, Look says they are fully serviceable, once you get past the 3-prong endcap to clean & grease the bearings & axle.
