For those who pedal to and from work, it’s likely the most important and expensive piece of equipment you’re hauling is a laptop computer. If you ride through all kinds of weather conditions, you might want to check out TimBuk2’s ‘No Wet Laptops’ campaign for 2020.

If you own a Brompton bike, the brand has just released their largest messenger bag yet; the 23L Metro L. This bag has been updated with a redesigned interior which now includes a padded laptop compartment.

All bags in TimBuk2’s No Wet Laptops line feature waterproof fabrics, taped seams, coated zippers and protective laptop sleeves. The laptop line expands with two new models for 2020, and several of TimBuk2’s classic bags have been updated with new colors as well. Certain updated models will be available starting Feb. 1, with the others arriving March 1st.

Lane Commuter Backpack:

The new Lane Commuter Backpack is a revision of TimBuk2’s popular 30L Parker Commuter Backpack. The Lane Commuter is a smaller 18L pack, which is ideal for daily needs. TimBuk2 says the pack’s water resistant drop liner and zip-away rain fly make it ultra rain and storm proof.

Storage-wise, the bag has three pockets on the back, one protected by a flap and two with large glove-friendly zipper pulls. Inside the main compartment is an externally accessible laptop sleeve, and outside you’ll find mesh pockets on both sides (ideal for water bottles), and a carry handle.

*Please note- this model is shown in the Olivine color, no photos were provided of the new Granite option.

The Lane Commuter offers a padded back panel and an adjustable sternum strap. It also boasts a reflective panel across the lower back and two more on the front of the shoulder straps. The Lane Commuter Backpack will be sold in Jet Black, Olivine, and a new Granite color (Grey with an Indigo cast and Pale Pod Green accents) as of March 1st. MSRP is $179.

Especial Supply Roll Top:

TimBuk2’s other new model for 2020 is the Especial Supply Roll Top. A compacted version of the sizeable Especial Shelter Roll Top, this bag offers 22L of cargo space. The bag is made from weather-resistant materials, and its liner is removable and washable.

The Especial Supply Roll Top has a magnetic closure that allows you a little extra space when you need maximum storage. Other cargo features include a U-lock carrier on one side, a small external zippered pocket on the back, and a carry handle up top.

The pack’s padded and ventilated back panel and adjustable sternum strap should keep things cool, comfortable and secure. The exterior also includes black reflective accents for visibility. Color choices are Jet Black (as shown) or the new Velocity color (a nautical Navy Blue with reflective silver and Flame Red accents), and it sells for $159. This model will be available March 1st.

Updated Models:

Especial Scope Expandable Pack, Jet Black

TimBuk 2 has also added another color option to three packs in the Especial line: The Especial Scope Expandable Pack, Especial Shelter Roll Top Pack, and Especial Stash Messenger all now available in Jet Black or the new ‘Velocity’ color, as of March 1st.

Spire Laptop Backpack 2.0, Nautical

Several of TimBuk2’s classic models have also been updated with new color offerings as well. The Spire Laptop Backpack 2.0 and Rogue Laptop Backpack 2.0 will be available as of Feb. 1st in Jet Black or a new Dove color (a rich, polished mid-grey).

Tech Roll Top Backpack, Jet Black.

The Robin Commuter Backpack will soon come in Jet Black, Olivine, and share the new Granite color with the Lane Commuter backpack. The Tech Roll Top Backpack and Tech Tote will be offered in Jet Black or new Pebble color (a space-inspired dusty light grey). Both of these new colors will be available as of March 1st.

All of TimBuk2’s packs come with a lifetime warranty.

Brompton Metro L Messenger Bag

Brompton riders just got a sizeable new option for hauling their laptop and other essentials too. The 2020 Metro L is now Brompton’s largest bag in their Metro line with a 23L capacity. The bag’s dimensions are 40x30x15cm. The Metro L’s exterior is made from 1000D Cordura Broken Twill with a PU coating, and the interior is Nylon.

This bag now features a front flap for better weather coverage. The flap has an easy access two-buckle closure, and the bag’s interior has been redesigned with more flexible storage options. The Metro L offers a padded laptop compartment, a cable management pocket, and a water bottle sleeve. It also has a zippered front pocket, stretch mesh side pocket, and glove-friendly pulls on its zippers.

The Metro L attaches to your Brompton bike via their Front Luggage Mounting Block, and the bag’s rubberized webbing handle makes it compatible with any Brompton handlebar. When you’re off the bike a shoulder strap attaches via a cam lock for secure, comfortable carrying.

The 2020 Metro L comes with a Hi-Viz waterproof rain cover, and can accommodate an additional front carrier block (not included). The Metro L Messenger Bag retails for $199.99. It is available online or at Brompton dealers in Black only.
