Since its debut in 2021, the MegaVolt Festival has brought eMTB riders together for several days of electrified riding and racing in various places around British Columbia. In its five-year history, this unique event has become one of the premier eMTB events in North America. In fact, BikeRumor contributor Steve Fisher attended the event this year and had such a blast that it made his 2025 Editor’s Choice List.
As pedal-assist mountain bikes continue to gain popularity, so too has the event, and now the organizers are announcing its expansion. “The MegaVolt has grown right alongside eMTB. With two locations in 2026, we can dig deeper into what makes this sport so much fun: community, exploration, and the freedom to ride more.” – Andreas Hestler, BCBR Marketing Director and Co-founder

What is MegaVolt?
If you’re unfamiliar with MegaVolt, Steve’s coverage of the 2025 event sums up the experience nicely. If you don’t have the time to read that, here’s a quick rundown. MegaVolt was founded in 2021 by the same folks who run the BC Bike Race. However, instead of a multi-day marathon cross-country race, MegaVolt caters to the growing community of eMTB riders. The 2026 iterations of the festival involve a lineup of events, including eXC and eEnduro races, as well as the Trailforks Adventure Challenge. All events are specifically designed for eMTBs and include courses for both intermediate and advanced riders.
In addition to the races and challenges listed below, MegaVolt also includes plenty of other ride opportunities, as well as eMTB demo bikes, entertainment, and the usual post-ride refreshments. “Each weekend will feature a mix of events and chances to socialize. Expanding to new communities means more terrain to explore, more chances to test the latest tech, and more time to ride with the people who are shaping eMTB’s future.”

eXC
“The MegaVolt’s eXC pushes the limits of both rider and battery endurance. RACE or RIDE the marked course, supported by our eBike Patrol and medical teams. It’s a staple of the MV experience.”
eEnduro
“The eEnduro returns as one of the festival’s most popular competitive formats with timed downhill stages, untimed transitions, and the perfect playground for modern eMTBs.”
Trailforks Adventure Challenge
“Using Trailforks, find the checkpoints for bragging rights and a killer day on the trails with new and familiar riding buddies. The crowd favourite!”

2026 MegaVolt Dates and Locations
With two events — one in late spring and one in fall — MegaVolt organizers will take participants to two completely different riding locations.
- May 29-31, 2026, riders will descend on Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley, where they will encounter “forested singletrack, flowy features, and just enough technical punch to eMTBs fully engaged.”
- October 2-4, 2026, MegaVolt heads to the world-renowned terrain of Squamish, where “granite slabs, forest loam, and big memorable lines make it an incredible fit for eMTB.”
MegaVolt Registration
A limited number of passes will be available for each of the 2026 MegaVolt events. Registration will open for both events in early 2026. If you are interested in attending, you can join the MegaVolt mailing list for registration updates or visit the event website for more information.
