Aimed at the outdoor and adventure crowd, but looking very appropriate for bikepacking and all-day mountain bike rides, the new Mission Workshop Speedwell VX adds a few new pockets to what’s already one of our favorite packs.
A little wider and bigger than the Hauser (which comes in 10L and 14L versions), the 20L Speedwell adds a few key features that make it more versatile. Mesh side pockets with drawstring hold water bottles, and a pouch pocket on the bottom fits snacks, a first aid kit, or other stuff you need quick access to.
The main compartment uses a roll top with a Fidlock magnetic buckle clip, with a laptop sleeve inside. Behind that is the hydration reservoir pocket that’ll hold up to a 3L bladder.
The exterior is a Dimension Polyant X-Pac fabric that’s weatherproof and lightweight, and tough. The bottom has a light loop attachment, making it a great commuter pack. A broad shoulder yoke and adjustable waist strap design both keep it stable, even for mountain biking, and helps it fit a wide range of riders.
Retail is $285, available in Orange, Yellow, Black, and Gray. Available direct from Mission Workshop.
Mission Pro Cycling Shorts & Bibs
The new Mission Pro cycling shorts join their bibshorts to get lightweight mesh pockets on the legs, plus a Dyneema panel along the side to protect from abrasion if (or, rather, when) you go down.
They’re made in Italy and use Quattro fabrics throughout the rest of the lower panels. The bibs use wide-set mesh straps with two small back pockets to keep them comfy and cool up top with a bit of extra storage…but they’re deep enough to securely hold a small- to a medium-sized water bottle, too.
The shorts and bibs are available in men’s and women’s versions, and yes fellas, you can get this purple color, too (for now anyway, stock is super low). Bibs are $285, shorts are $195. Check out the Men’s & Women’s collections here.
