Each year the Corcordia Parish Sheriff’s Office collects, cleans and refurbishes bicycles and redistributes them to needy children in their area. The program began in 1990 and has been ongoing every year since.
Approximately 250 to 300 bikes are given away each year, distributed on a first come first served basis. The bicycles are donated by locals and trustee inmates make the repairs and repainting. If you’re in the area and want to donate or get your kid’s name on the list to get a bike, read the full story on the Natchez Democrat for more info.
