Since the very first Road Bike Party, Martyn Ashton has been making us question what isn’t possible on a road bike. And while Ashton isn’t able to participate in the riding for the third installment, he is still playing a huge role while acting as a role model for those recovering from spinal injuries. To help out with the riding in Road Bike Party 3, Sam Pilgrim made the trip to San Diego to ride a road bike on the dirt.

Check out more from Global Cycling Network including the building of Sam’s Ridley Noah next…

One of the most impressive parts of the Road Bike Party series is that the bikes use off the shelf parts. Now, we don’t know what shape they are in by the end of filming, but the light weight carbon parts from Ridley, FSA, Vision, and Prologo withstand far more than the average “JRA” abuse.

From GCN:

RBP 3 has landed! Presented by Martyn Ashton and starring Sam Pilgrim, Road Bike Party hits the Californian dirt.

Martyn Ashton and Road Bike Party 3 head to the USA with Sam Pilgrim taking the reins to show what a carbon Ridley Noah can do on the dirt. Kitted out with Vision Metron 81 wheels, Full Speed Ahead K Force brakes, cranks, bar and stem, Prologo saddle and bar tape along with Shimano shifting, this is probably the blingest bike ever to get down and dirty in San Diego!

We’re pretty sure we answered the question of “Can a road bike kill it in the dirt?” with a resounding yes!

No bikes were harmed in the making of this film. A couple of inner tubes were though.

Thanks fot the video, but….how many carbon frames and carbon wheels are you broke for make this video? its impossible to make this video without broke bicycle parts. If this video is for sale more road bikes i dont like this video. If its not, i liked.

Why would he have to have broken a frame or wheels? I’m pretty sure Martyn Ashton did’t brake any major parts in RBP1 (even though he later got hurt pretty bad…)…
