Quiring Cycles and Funk Cycles both had their ideas of what a titanium mountain bike should be. Where Quiring’s went for a super lightweight 29er (above), Funk put together what they think is the smallest full suspension 29er ever. Check them all out after the break…

Quiring has a new Lefty headtube option, which is a sure way to drop some weight. This bike comes in at a claimed 20lbs with a 3/2.5 ti frame with 6/4 dropouts and bits.

Frame is $2,700, and complete bikes are also offered. This one would be about $8,000.

Full suspension and custom paint are also on tap.

Funk Cycles’ La Rita is a super small 29er full suspension bike for very short riders.

It uses a pivotless frame design, letting the chainstays bend to provide rear wheel movement.

La Rutabaga (bottom) is their regular 29er design, and it’s also available in a Ti Carbon with a carbon fiber front triangle that’s brand new. All made in Colorado. $3,495 for frame on both.

The new hardtail 29er (top) Veloce is $2,995. They have stock standard sizing on all models, custom sizing (within reason) is offered at no upcharge.

That little tiny Funk looks like something from Target. That thing has to be super flexy.

I do agree with Outofbreath…but I guess it depends in the end it depends on riding style and weight of rider.
I would love to see images of the Rutabaga with the carbon front triangle!
A couple of years ago I emailed Daryl Funk re frame purchase,posted a letter via snail mail…he never came back to me 🙁

Outofbreath – The Funk LaRuta in the small size is a great full-suspension option for shorter riders. Yes, the tubes are thick, tuned to rider weight, and very stiff to ensure an excellent ride. The design is conducive to shorter riders to allow them to have a low stand-over height while still giving them a FS 29er. Very few manufacturers make a 29er FS this small, stable, functional, and fun. A few different versions of this bike will be at Sea Otter to demo. You should stop by the booth and check it out. It’s a pretty cool bike.

Marcel – I’m sure you’re aware that Daryl Funk has been doing humanitarian work in Africa (Zambikes, Acirfa, Akerfa) for the last 3 years. Daryl spends part of his time in Africa and part in the US. Dave Muscianisi is the key day-to-day operations contact at Funk, and his contact information is on the funkcycles.com website. He’s very prompt with all responses and customer service, and an extremely nice guy. You can usually find him racing around the country all summer long. Maybe he’ll be in your area and you could see the bike? Another option is to stop by the Funk booth at Sea Otter so you can meet the group, see the bikes, and take them for a test ride.
