This year, NAHBS allowed designers to join the builders as exhibitors, and one of the most exorbitant examples was Krencker’s custom built, luxury Cyfac road bike.

Materials and component selection were top notch, and it was built with a lot of custom touches to up the elegance and convenience. From trick internal cable runs to a simple frame break for the belt drive, there’s lots to see right after the jump…

The entire front end is chromed out, and the head badge is a monster-sized crystal with their logo etched into it.

Steel braided brake hose matches the brakes, rotors and skewer.

Various leathers adorn the handlebar and brake hoods. Rohloff speed hub twist shifter is placed near the stem with cables running directly into the head tube. Brake levers are modified to activate the hydraulic disc brakes, and the hoses run inside the handlebar, stem and frame, only visible just before the calipers. It’s a Schmolke bar, and it’s been reinforced where the holes were drilled for the hoses.

The shifting cables come out of the chainstay and run along the bottom to the hub.

The rear brake hose is only minimally visible, which makes for some very clean lines.

The frame breaks at the top of the dropout to insert the belt drive.

Full specs, sort of. Top view shows the carbon frame tubes with gold accent painting. Lest you think this is some heavy, gilded art bike, the claimed weight is 9kg (19.8lbs) as shown, which Krencker says is too heavy and that he’s working on bringing that down more. Price TBD.

“Brake levers are modified to activate the hydraulic disc brakes” – Can you elaborate on that point? Are these one-off custom built hydro levers for drop bars?

While I don’t much like the bling bling look of the bike, that along with the custom Rohloff shifter setup seems very interesting…
