NAHBS 2010 – Maietta Custom Bike’s namesake Anthony Maietta concocted what he believes to be the world’s first internally equipped GPS enabled road bike, allowing you to not only track your rides, but to see where your bike is at all times. Think of it as a technologically advanced global positioning baby monitor for your custom steel baby.
Painted a stealth matte black, the Jet Set conceals a GPS unit within the frame. It’s placed in a special fitting inside the downtube and is accessed via the S&S coupler just above the bottom bracket.

The Lightning GPS unit links up with an online component to track your bike. The battery is good for about five days on a full charge, so as long as you act quickly, chances are good you’ll find your bike if it ever decides to leave you.
The Jet Set is a mix of carbon fiber (downtube) and Columbus steel, and each one is custom made to fit the end user. MSRP is $3,000 for the frame, couplers and Lightning GPS unit…but ongoing tracking service may be an additional fee.
He also had this very colorfully painted bike sitting in the background. Maietta’s standard custom road bikes start at $1,500 and go up (and up) from there depending on frame material (Ti and Stainless Steel are options):
