NAHBS 2010 – Alongside their new Oxford rain cape and sweet white leather bar tape, Brooks showed off several new shades for some of their popular saddles and a reissue by popular demand of the Colt, which has been off the market for six years.
Above, the Brooks Imperial B17 Narrow adds two new colors, Honey and Antique Brown, to the original Black. Hit ‘more’ for the rest of the rich, leathery goodness…
The Imperial B68S is a new design, Brooks’ first “upright” comfort style saddle with a cutout.
The colored tassels are actually replacement strings for fixing or customizing your saddle. Their rep (who shall remain anonymous) said the colors were originally instituted to appeal to the fixie crowd, but he hasn’t really seen them get used. The cut-out saddle design requires the lacing to hold the saddle’s shape since the opening would allow too much flex otherwise.
Back in action! The Colt will be available mid-Spring again for the first time in six years. Three colors will be offered, Mustard, Natural and Black. Guys, just try not to ride Natural if you sit real far back on the seat, mmmkay?
This is why.
Childish sight gags aside, the Colt is made with hand-pounded rivets (seriously? Insert ‘hand pounded joke here at your discretion) and the bottom edge of the leather is chamfered.
Screw in the tip (C’mon…!) lets you adjust the firmness of the saddle to your pleasure.
The Colt will retail for $180 and looks pretty sweet despite the temporary devolvement of our maturity.
