Perennial pack favorite Timbuk2 has a new roll-top bag called the Custom Tuck Backpack, that mixes the rare attributes of being totally customizable, made in their San Fransisco studio, and staying affordable. Also made in the states, from Portland’s own North St. Bags comes a new pair of simple hip packs designed to work well on and off the bike. The Pioneer bags manage to stay affordable too, get some nice & bright color options, plus offer two different sizes. On the other side of the Atlantic, Vel-Oh bags offer a who wide range of multi-purpose bags inspired by cycling, some of which can serve just as well on or off the bike. There’s everything from small saddle bags to commuter backpacks and duffels….

The Custom Tuck Backpack is about combining a light and voluminous roll-top bag with the chance to customize the look to your tastes. Inside it will carry a 15″ laptop, while the outside gets a pair of slip in pockets to haul things like a u-lock or a water bottle. It gets basic padded shoulder straps on the back, plus a pair of hidden zip pockets, and the simple buckled strap and a small loop to attach a blinkie on the other side. On Timbuk2’s website you can customize the bag in a number of fabrics over each of the five different elements, all for just $100 made in their SF, California headquarters. timbuk2.com

North St. Bags

North St. Bags jsut showed us their new Pioneer 9 & 12 hip packs, blending a fanny pack and handlebar bag into one. The Pioneer bags use easy on and off 1.5” locking clips that make it simple to go from on the bike to around your waist or even to drop the back into your bigger luggage for a bit of organization. With two zip outer pockets, one more inside there is plenty to keep your gear in order. The smaller bag is 9 x 6 x 3″ for 2.7l of storage, while the bigger bumps up to 12.5 x 7 x 4″ for 5.7l. The bags are pretty modular so they start off at just $40 & $60, respectively. Add-ons bring the price up depending on how you want to use them. It’s another $10 each to add the optional removable belt, the optional bike handlebar kit, or the optional shoulder strap. Otherwise you can always hook it on your own belt with the built-in loops. NorthStBags.com

Vel-Oh

Vel-Oh is a London-based team of urban cyclists that design and make bags, inspired by their time on the bike. Their offering is certainly broad, including on the bike bags like the small £25 Polka Dot Saddle Bag and a £100 Commuter Bag backpack in a few different color variations. Even their £65 roll-down Nip Out Bag which is essentially a super musette and the £125 Day Bag, a bigger jacked-up version of the same shoulder bag (riding photo above) smoothly transfer over to the bike. All of the bags are made from British waxed cottons and real leather, sewn by hand in the UK for a mix of style, functionality, and solid durability. Vel-Oh.com
