Out of Scotts Valley, California last week, Bell Helmets announced the release of the new Falcons. Broken down into two different models, the Falcon XR MIPS comes without a visor, and Falcon XRV MIPS with a visor. These are two helmets that Bell says are versatile and offer Mips technology, deeper coverage, ample ventilation, and even a 30-lumen Blackburn Grid COB rear light.
The Falcon XR draws from the DNA of the XR Sperical, carrying many similar characteristics like Mips rotational impact integration, deeper shell coverage, and excellent ventilation. It also offers an all-around performance and value for any type of riding, such as commuting, or gravel riding during the day or at night. It would be a good choice for a multifaceted cyclist.
SJ Owens, the Marketing Director at Bell had this to say, “The Falcon XR and Falcon XRV deliver performance to all-around cycling enthusiasts. Building off the success of the XR Spherical helmet, cyclists can now enjoy similar industry-eading featuressuch as Mips Evolve in a well-equipped, but budget-friendly helmet. Also adding, “With multiple models with and without the Blackburn GRid COB rear light or with the visor in the Falcon XRV, cyclists now have a truly versatile go anywhere at anytime helmet”.
The Falcon is available in four different models, the Falcon XR MIPS is available with or without the removable Blackburn LED light, and the Falcon XRV is also available with or without the removable Blackburn LED light.
Both the Falcon XR and XRV come in unique model-specific colors, coming out to a whopping 24 different colors to choose from between the two models.
There are “rider-focused” comforts available in the Falcon XR, like Ionic+ antimicrobial padding, with silver metalized yarn for odor control, as well as the Fidlock buckle, sweat guide, and No-Twist-Tri-Glides straps.
The Fusion In-Mold Polycarbonate Shell featuring the Mips Evolve and Bell’s Float Fit systems puts the Falcon XR at a weight of 305g for the medium size.
More on the Falcon’s Rear Light
The removable Blackburn Grid COB rear light that comes with the LED models of the Falcon XR and XRV, comes with four different modes. The 30-lumen LED light includes Steady, Pulse, Strobe, and Eco modes – all of which can be toggled by a button.
The light also uses the convenient USB-C making it easy to recharge. Run time on “Steady” mode is an estimated 1.5 hours and 15 hours on “Eco” mode.
The Blackburn Grid COB light is also available separately for $20.
