Based on the quite nice disc forks on their Acme and Ajax commuter bikes, Spot Brand’s new carbon fiber disc brake cyclocross fork has a unique post mount design attached to the leg.
The fork uses an alloy steerer and dropouts with carbon fiber legs and crown. It’s a straight 1-1/8″ steerer tube, so those frustrated by the wave of tapered-only disc ‘cross forks coming out now have an option. The brakes are post-mount, reducing weight and complexity over using an adapter. Dropouts are angled forward for stronger wheel retention and countering the rotational braking forces of the disc brakes. Spot says it has ample clearance for tires and mud and has a 400 axle-to-crown height with 45mm rake. MSRP is $274.95 and it’s available now on their website. For those just building up a sick commuter bike, there’s also a threaded fender mount just behind the dropout.
