Cateye is expanding their range of computers to address the growing number of people riding their bikes to work and to run errands.
The new-for-2010 Commuter Computer is a wireless cycling computer that will offer commuters and those who ride for transportation some key pieces of information that will be helpful to their rides, with the following on the screen at all times: ETA (you program your typical commute distance and it will count down until you reach the destination and give you an ETA based on your speed/distance left/etc), clock (w/ current time of day), and temperature. They also made the font size larger and easier to read than past models.
The official description is:
Commuter Computer – The first ever cycle computer specifically designed for commuters. Critical trip details make the CatEye Commuter Computer the best option for making your rides stress-free. Estimated Time of Arrival, clock, temperature, and backlight help you stay on schedule. The new larger font size makes it even easier to read trip details with a quick glance. Carbon Offset information is included along with standard computer features so you will not only feel better from the ride, you’ll feel better about the ride.
The Carbon Offsets are computed by using a fixed 150g/km or 240g/mile figure and multiplying it by the distance ridden. It tracks it in real time and shows day to day, week to week, month to month and total carbon saved.
The Commuter Computer is launching in Europe first (now, we think) and will be available to the US Market for Spring 2010. MSRP is $70.
