Giro have released details of their new all-mountain helmet, the Xar, (pronounced Czar if you really need to know). The Xar is an evolution of the very popular Xen with increased ventilation and a lighter weight. More details, pictures and pricing after the break.
Giro claim that this is the most ventilated off road helmet you can buy and the reason for that is the 17 wind tunnel designed vents, which include internal channelling to increase airflow. The helmet also features X-Static anti-microbial foam which should help to keep your lid free smelling fresh through the hot summer. A further development which can be found on the Xar is a new retention system, called Roc Loc 5, which allows the rider to adjust both the fit tension and vertical position with one hand. The video below shows how the system works.
The Xar will be available from February 2011 and will cost around £115 or €150. US pricing to be announced.
