The Industry Nine wheel machine keeps on turnin’! This time, the Asheville-based company is introducing a lower-priced version of their Ultralite Carbon wheel series with the new 1/1 Ultralite Carbon.
That 1/1 is an obvious reference to the hub of choice for this build, the Industry Nine 1/1. These hubs were initially called the 101, but then renamed as 1/1. While the name changed, the performance didn’t–these offer near-Hydra performance but with a fraction of the price. They’re still completely made in Asheville, NC, and have different options for end caps and freehubs.
In this case, they’re offered in a 24h version to match up with the Ultralite Carbon rims.
Carbon Rims
Offered only in 29″/700c, the 350g Ultralite Carbon rim has a 25mm internal width which should make it a great choice for gravel or XC mountain bike use (recommended tire widths of 33-55mm for road/gravel and 2.1-2.4 for MTB). The wheels are tubeless ready and come with tubeless valves and tape pre-installed, and the claimed weight is listed as 1440g.
MTB or Road/Gravel?
Industry Nine offers these wheels in a road/gravel or MTB configuration. The only difference? The hub spacing.
The Mountain wheels will include a 15 x 110 boost front and 12 x 148 or QR141 Boost rear spacing and Shimano Microspline, HG, or SRAM XD freehubs options.
The Road/gravel wheels will be offered in 15 x 100 or 12 x 100 front spacing and 12 x 142 or QR135 rear spacing with HG11 or XD-R freehub options.
Both are offered in Centerlock brake mounts only, and only in classic black with Sapim Sprint butted j-bend spokes. Both wheelsets have a maximum rider weight of 250lb/114kg.
Available for pre-order now, the wheels will sell for $1600 per set or for $725 for a front and $880 for the rear wheel. Wheels will begin shipping today.
