Loaded Precision Components introduced their new X-Lite mountain bike wheels at Sea Otter, with offerings for all three wheel sizes.
The rims use their “True Bead Technology”, their own tubeless system, that supposedly makes installation and initial inflation super easy. There’s an internal beam extruded into the design to improve lateral rigidity. To keep it light, they use 32 quad-butted spokes with alloy nipples color matched to the hubs, and they’re available in red, green, gold, black, silver and pewter/gray.
Internals use three double-engagement-point pawls with 24 points of contact. They work with 9/15 front axles and QR/12×142 rear and include skewers. Roll past the break for closeups, more specs and their new stem…
Claimed weights and prices are:
- 26″ – 1656g – $769.99
- 27.5″ – 1704g – $769.99
- 29er – 1743g – $769.99
An XX1 driver body is available separately. They’re rated for Xc to Trail use, and they offer the substantially lighter Ultra sets in 26″ and 29er for pure XC racing (the 29er X-Lite Ultra is 1561g per pair) that only carry a $30 premium.
The new AMXC stem is built for anything from cross country up to enduro style riding. Claimed weight is 133g for the 85mm. 70mm and 100mm are also on tap. It’s made of 6061 alloy that’s first forged then machined into shape and laser etched for looks. All feature a +/-6º rise. Color options are same as the hubs. Retail is $79.99.
