Wisconsin’s Trek Bicycles has teamed up with component giant Shimano for a new Project One Ultimate bike. Loaded with that iconic attention to detail, this Project One Ultimate brings the Top Fuel decked out with Shimano’s new XTR Di2 wireless drivetrain.

The robust and lightweight new XTR Di2 drivetrain seems to be a perfect match for Trek’s lightweight and tough Top Fuel. The bike features an “earthy base color”, custom-made for Shimano, with fine speckles from Trek’s EnvironOxide paint.

If you remember, EnvironOxide uses excess iron from mining sediment. They remove it from waterways, reducing the need to mine for raw iron oxide minerals used in creating paint pigments.

The speckles give a nod to the dirt flecks that can sometimes cover riders after a good ride. The bike’s logos are a “transparency of Algae Black”, made with algae instead of carbon.

The Project One Ultimate XTR Di2 Top Fuel, with this paint scheme, is one-of-one, but the new Shimano XTR Di2 is now available on a few other Trek mountain bikes.

Trek says that this bike “was created as a one-off masterpiece”. You can find the new Shimano XTR Di2 on the Supercaliber and Top Fuel builds now at Trek Dealers. Or, buy ’em online at the link below.

Why would you advertise a bike that’s one-of-one?

I think they would do better advertising a bike that the general public can buy.
