Niner announced their totally redesigned AIR9 and EMD9 frames just before Eurobike, but the big show provided our first chance to put some real, fleshy eyes and hands on them…and throw them on the scale.
The AIR9 built up with X0, Niner’s bar, post and stem, Stan’s wheels, Ergon grips and Fizik saddle comes in at 22lbs 6oz. See how the EMD9 faired and some of the aesthetic differences between the frames right after the break…
Same build puts the EMD9 in at 23lbs 8oz.
Besides the frame materials and lack of butted stays on the EMD, the AIR9 (left, white) gets smoother welds and the same, slightly rounded headtube as the JET9 and RIP9.
