The new NOCS Zoom Tube monocular is a single eye version of their rugged outdoor binoculars, and it looks like the perfect backcountry adventure tool for scoping the route ahead.

Like the binoculars, this sporty monocular uses Swiss-designed Bak4 prisms to amplify the image 8x while still having a super short minimum focus distance of just 2m (~7ft). And that’s before we get into the accessories that might make it a life (or tire) saver.

Basic Nocs monocular specs are:

  • 8×32 (8x magnification x 32mm lens aperture)
  • 400mm zoom lens equivalent
  • Ultrawide field of view (384ft @ 1000 yards / 7.3º)
  • IPx6 water resistance
  • Scratch-resistant lenses coated to reduce chromatic aberration
  • 1/4-20 tripod mount

It also uses their ribbed non-slip surface and an oversized rubbery eyepiece that makes it both comfortable to use and quite durable. It’s small, too, at just 123x68x41mm and weighs in at just 220g. Retail is $75, available in several colors.

Nocs Zoom Tube Inspector Microscope

If there were such a thing as a rugged, adventure-ready microscope for the outdoors, this could be it. Add Nocs’ Inspector Microscope ($35) attachment and it becomes a 32x power microscope. It’s a 4x power multiplier that refocuses into a macro view of things.

If you’ve ever needed to see really close to make sure you’re getting all of that thorn out of your tire, or just remove a splinter or read a map’s finer details, here’s your tool. And if you have kids, well, this oughta keep them entertained for a while. They even offer a Photo Rig camera adapter ($27) that lets you turn this into a zoom/macro lens for your smartphone!

Nocs x Peak Design Capture Kit

Known for their premium camera mounts, clips, and straps, Peak Design’s strap-mounted clip ($70) attaches to just about any backpack strap or belt. Then, attach the clip to the Nocs’ 1/4-20 tripod mount and you can stick it directly to your pack’s shoulder straps for easy access.

It’s the same clip Peak Design sells for cameras, so this kit will work with your DSLR or other cameras and compatible equipment…basically anything with a 1/4-20 mount. Bonus points that the attachment for the monocular has a flat base and can be used as a stand.
