Northwave has always been known to use quite a bit of color in their line up, and the Spring/Summer 2014 line certainly doesn’t disappoint. The crew over at road.cc had a chance to get a sneak peek at the new line up, and with their permission we’re posting up a few of the highlights like the cyclocross specific Hammer CX. After seeing the Lake MX331 CX shoe, it looks like cyclocross specific shoes could be the next big thing in footwear, though Lake and Northwave go about in very different ways. Northwave’s CX offering is almost more of a winter boot with a neoprene, water resistant cuff designed to keep out the mud and slop that makes cross so great.

In 2014 they high end Extreme Tech road shoe gets updated and becomes the new Extreme Tech Plus. New for the model is dual SLW2 (Speed Lace Winch) dials instead of the single dial and ratchet strap of the previous version. Unlike Boa dials, the SLWs can be loosened by either pressing a release button or backing off the dials, which appear to be bigger and easier to grasp than the original SLW – though the whole mechanism is apparently smaller.
The shoes have a full carbon sole that continues the use of their exclusive Speedplay adapters that reduce Speedplay stack height from 3mm to 0.5mm as well as being standard 3 bolt cleat compatible.
Adding another option in the middle of the range is the new Bullet Plus. It features a unibody upper and SLW2 closure with both retina searing and more subdued color schemes available.
Northwave’s all terrain segment will get some new models as well with the introduction of the Spider Plus and the Matrix below. Perfect for riding and hike-a-biking the Spider plus is a higher end offering with SLW2 and velcro closure, plus an aggressive Vibram outsole for grip when you’re pushing it up a hill or across a creek. The Matrix offers laces with a velcro strap/lace keeper instead with a pretty crazy color scheme.
