Ortlieb Mustard adds a bit of subtly spicy color to their popular black bikepacking gear line-up.
Ortlieb’s waterproof packs set the bikepacking bag benchmark for protection and durability, even before bikepacking was a thing. But while their commuter and cycle touring bags have long offered more visible & more colorful options, the Ortlieb Bikepacking collection has mostly defaulted to the classic ‘almost-black’ with just a hint of their signature orange accents. But now in their second annual limited edition run, bikepacking gets a little mustard spice.

Ortlieb describes the new Mustard limited edition as an “eye-catching” aesthetic. That might sound a bit extreme for what are simply some muted yellow bags. (Especially as they are more conservatively colored compared to last autumn’s blue & purple limited edition.) But for bikepackers looking to spice up their adventure bike setup, the Ortlieb Mustard limited edition is a simple understated way to bring a tiny bit of color to your bike setup. And in reality, the lighter color inside and out, might just make it easier to find smaller items you pack deep inside with the rest of your gear.
Why Mustard yellow, though? Well, it’s not the Viva Magenta Pantone color of the year for 2023, but somehow it’s apparently in their “Magentaverse“! So, why not be fashionable?
Plus, in a nod to their sustainability, Ortlieb says they were able to repurpose surplus fabric from a Mustard commuter daypack they started making back in 2020 for this limited bikepacking series.

All the same technical details are there as the 100% waterproof, welded-seam standard dark grey Handlebar, Seat & roll-top Toptube RC Frame packs, still made entirely in Germany just now in Mustard yellow.
