Kenstone Metal Co. and Kirk Pacenti of Pacenti Cycle Design announce a new partnership designed to utilize each others’ strengths. The partnership permits each to continue to focus on their core business while significantly expanding their customer base into new markets.

Kenstone Metal has long sought higher end niche market customers. Because they recognize the need for limited production of bikes and frames for smaller bicycle companies, Kenstone has invested significantly in a high-end frame production facility specializing in small volume steel frame fabrication. Combined with Pacenti’s client base and renowned component design, the partnership is a key factor in bringing new customers to Kenstone’s high-end department.

In addition to frame production, Pacenti has also designed custom Speed Mettle(R) and Heavy Mettle(R) tube sets for virtually any application in a multitude of materials. The core tube set is comprised of heat treated SAE 4130 chrome-moly double and triple butted tubing. Custom frame builders and large OEM customers will also be able to choose from Speed Mettle Scandium and Speed Mettle 7005 aluminum tube sets. Speed Mettle tube sets will be available to OEM customers through their preferred frame maker in addition to Kenstone’s steel frame fabrication shop. Pacenti will also stock tubing that domestic frame builders can purchase in smaller quantities.

While most of the bicycle industry is moving toward carbon fiber, Kenstone says they, “appreciate the classic beauty steel frames and greatly admire the work that goes into a custom lugged steel frame. Working with Kirk will capitalize on our ability to address the needs of many smaller companies and frame builders.”

The partnership will also allow Pacenti to expand his line of frame components and bring them to market more rapidly than in years past. “I’ve got a lot of ideas for new tubesets and other frame parts; by partnering with Kenstone I can concentrate on the design and development while they handle production and sales to OEM customers. My core business of providing tubing, lugs, and frame parts to North American frame builders remains unchanged but now I will be able to provide them with an even greater range of parts and tubing, including the new 7005 and Scandium tube sets that are in high demand from US builders.”

Designs for new tubing as well as other frame components are complete. Expected availability of new tubing is early summer for steel and scandium tubing and later summer for titanium tubing. Updates on availability and information on new products will be available on www.bikelugs.com.
