Panda Bicycles is counting down the days until the launch of “The One”, their first bamboo bicycle.  Based (and to be built, we presume) in Fort Collins, CO, Panda plans to use one of nature’s fastest growing renewable resources to make simple bikes.  The One will be available for about $850 and come as a fixie, single speed or 3-speed internally geared bike with coaster brake.
While they claim that no Pandas are harmed in their production, there’s a hilarious PB poster to the contrary in the background of this video on The Denver Channel. They anticipate launching their first bike in 56 days, 12 hours and some change (as of this post’s published timestamp).  Funny, I thought bamboo grew faster than that…
