Not content to let the kids have all the new carbon-mountain-bike-fun, Patrol just revealed their next addition for 2021. Their new 09 Carbon hard tail claims to be XC light, but with geometry that encourages aggressive riding. It also has a few tricks up its sleeve including a way to keep the ride going when disaster strikes.
Developed around 29″ wheels and a 130mm travel fork, all of the 09 hardtails use the same carbon frame. The silhouette of the bike looks very clean which is due to the internal cable routing – but instead of the usual ports in the frame, this bike routes everything through the headset.
The brake hose and rear shift cable then pop out of the frame near their destinations, and there’s room for an internal dropper post cable as well.
The other hidden secret for the 09 is a spare derailleur hanger that’s housed in the downtube. We’ve seen this from a few other manufacturers as well, and it seems like a pretty solid idea for an extra life on the trail.
Additional frame features include an integrated chain guide over the threaded bottom bracket shell, Boost 148 x 12mm spacing, post mount brakes inside the rear triangle, and room for two bottle cages inside the frame.
Geometry
Patrol says that the geometry for the 09 is inspired by their 691 enduro bike, and it features a 67° head tube angle, 74° seat tube angle, 430mm chainstays, and reach numbers from 425-500mm.
Models
Available in three builds, the 09 will run from $1,699 for the C093 to $2,199 for the C091. All builds include a 1x drivetrain, dropper post, Patrol branded wheels, and Vee Tires in 29 x 2.3″ widths.
