What happens when a bike nerd and a machinist cross? They find like-minded people and start a company like Paul Component Engineering. That being said, the machinist/bike nerds at Paul Comp “geeked out” again, and released these new Baby Groovy Barrel Adjusters.

These cute and colorful lil’ buggers were designed with the Klamper in mind but will work just fine on Paul Comp’s Funky Monkey Cable Hangers, Dropper Triggers (tested), Cross Levers, E-Levers, and Thumbies.

These Baby Groovy Barrel Adjusters might look a little familiar as they are a much smaller version of the beautifully functional Groovy Barrel Adjusters that you find on the Love Levers and Canti-Levers.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with the plastic barrel adjusters that come from the factory with all of these products. The Baby Groovy Barrel Adjusters are just a fun way to add more blingy personalization to your steed.

Using the Baby Groovy Barrel Adjusters

I’ve installed them on my Klampers, even though they are not in use right now (they’ll be back in play soon), and they look great! I have also been using one on my Dropper Trigger for a lil’ over a week, and I find them simple and easy to use as expected.

The barrels are just the right size and are easy to adjust even with gloved fingers… unlike the plastic, black barrel adjusters sometimes.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve always preferred this type of barrel adjuster over the type that would come on a rear derailleur. They work just like the Paul Groovy Barrel Adjuster and most of the brake levers we’ve all used over the past several decades.

Gold on Gold is so…GOLD!

And they’re, easier to use when cables get tight. Spin the barrel adjuster out or in, and spin the other to lock it down.

Also, they just look so damn custom, especially the purple Baby Groovy Barrel Adjuster on a gold Dropper Trigger.

Machined in Chico

Paul Components machine these lil’ beauties in-house in Chico, California using American milled 6061 aluminum and brass. They do this on their “fancy Doosan Lynx 2100 LSYB CNC Multitasking Center”. You may think this is an awful lot of work for something as little and unimportant as a barrel adjuster, but for the folks at Paul Comp, this is what they do.

California Travis had this to say: “We really wanted this specific shape, threading, and locknut that translates into quick, easy, and reliable on-the-fly cable adjustments, even with gloves on. We are machinists and bike nerds. This is what we do!” See… I told you.

Paul is a nostalgic 90’s company I could not afford as a teen back then. Besides the fixie scene turned rando or old school folks who love the vibe, there’s no reason to buy Paul as it’s not the lightest or best performing. I’m in my mid 40’s and much prefer performance over nostalgia. So these are a no thanks for me.

Paul’s stuff may not be for you, but I question why you bothered to take the time to point that out and why you would highlight any short-comings. Go ride your bike.

Not a fan of the original opinion, but neither am I of yours. Who are you to demand for somebody’s motives and telling them what to do?

Hi KM, Who am I?, you ask. I am a guy that saw someone rip into a company I am not affiliated with, but I think there may be employees and families involved so I pointed out that and suggested he/she do something else instead of be negative. My post’s point was obvious, needing no explanation, except for you. Don’t reply because I do not feel like explaining more basic things to you.

Not the lightest but possibly some of the most durable which is worth a markup, on top of paying for US labor
