The bicycle apparel and softgoods company, Pearl Izumi has announced a new collection that pays homage to the rebellious spirit of the first mountain bikers. The aptly named Origins Collection is available now and includes a tech t-shirt, mesh gloves, socks, pants, and a jacket.

Mountain biking has always been a space that welcomed freedom of self-expression and creativity both on and off the bikes. Ditching the hard traditions and rules of the road bike scene, the early hippy-daredevil-godfathers of mountain biking embraced the counter-culture that they created.

Pearl Izumi says that this collection “embodies the spirit of mountain biking’s free-thinking rebels of the ’70s and ’80s”. Let’s take a look at the collection, shall we?

Canyon Short Sleeve Jersey

The Canyon Jersey looks like it would be perfect for a day of on-the-bike shreddy-ness mixed with some off-the-bike activities, like a fat burrito and a nice, cold adult beverage. Pearl Izumi says it fits like your “favorite t-shirt’ but gives you the “function of a technical jersey”. It’s made from highly breathable Drirelease fabric for all-day comfort, and raglan sleeves for on-bike mobility.
