Praxis has just extended its Doon crank family with a gravel-specific model — the Doon GR — combining everything we loved about the award-winning road version with tweaks for off-road adventures.

What is the Doon GR?

The new Doon GR is a lightweight and gravel-specific version of the Praxis Doon crankset (we reviewed one here). It’s a highly customizable and tunable crankset, featuring a monochromatic finish that matches any bike. The crankset features a modular design, allowing users to switch between single and double rings, or from power meters to lighter race-day options. The platform is built around a 30mm spindle design and features a three-bolt spider/ring attachment design. lock ring similar to those found on FSA and Cannondale’s SI cranksets.

Gravel-Friendly Chainline

The Praxis Doon GR distinguishes itself from the original Doon by offering gravel compatibility. Specifically, a chainline that works with SRAM, Shimano, and Campagnolo designs. This results in a 150mm Q-factor, a 47mm chainline for double-ring options, and a 48mm chainline for single-ring options. The platform offers a wide range of ring options for both single and double rings, all included in the 2X LevaTime Kit and DM1X ring set.

Fine Tuning

The Praxis Doon GR (and Doon) features narrow and wide preload collars to fine-tune bearing fit, along with the trusted LevaTime II spider interface (160 BCD). It’s compatible with 10‑12‑speed drivetrains (Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo) and offered in gravel-friendly chainring combos, and plays well with a variety of 30mm bottom bracket standards (BSA, BB86, PF30, BBRight, T47)

Construction-wise, the Doon GR is a copy of the original Doon. Using Praxis’s signature C.R.A.F.T. carbon-laid technology and an M30 thru-axle interface. The same goes for the super cool (I think it’s cool) non-drive side carbon cover and very stiff pedaling response.

Praxis Doon GR powermeter

BYOPM (Bring Your Own Power Meter)

We haven’t ridden the Doon GR, but we’ve spent time on the original version, and it’s an excellent upgrade for those looking beyond the standard component offerings. The Doon GR crank weighs in at 342g (arms only, 172.5 mm), making it one of the lightest carbon cranksets on the market. It’s currently being sold as crankarms only, but you can piece together a crankset on the Praxis crank builder. Unfortunately, there are no powermeter options available directly at purchase, but if you’re interested. The Doon and Doon GR work with SRM, P2MAX, and other crankset-based power meters.

Is this really a 30mm/30mm spindle per the spec or their goofy proprietary M30 30mm/28mm? The drawing sure looks like it steps down to 28.

It is definitely 30mm/30mm. The picture is just generic (likely from the Zayante).

No it doesn’t. It uses three small bolts to hold the spider on.
