Here’s something new for parents shopping for bikes that actually fit their kids: they now come with a tax break. Prevelo has teamed up with TrueMed to make its entire range eligible for HSA and FSA purchases.
That means qualified families can now buy Prevelo bikes tax-free, unlocking up to 30% in savings depending on their personal tax rate. It’s a small but meaningful win for families who spend their weekends (and paychecks) building memories on two wheels.

Health, Family, and Riding Together
The move recognizes what most parents who ride already know — time spent on bikes is about more than exercise. It’s about family, connection, and shared time outside.
“My family’s been riding together every night before our kids go to bed, and it’s reliably the best time of the day,” said Jim Huth, Prevelo’s Director of Operations. “Our family rides get everyone focused on a shared activity, get us all outside, and help me and my wife get away from the distractions of daily life. I hope having our bikes available through TrueMed makes it easier for more families to enjoy rides together.”

How It Works
TrueMed is a platform that helps customers spend their HSA/FSA funds on qualified health and wellness products — and now, that includes bikes. The process is straightforward:
- Shop on Prevelo.com.
- Check out using TrueMed.
- Complete a short health questionnaire reviewed by a licensed provider.
- If approved, you’ll receive a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), which allows you to make or have reimbursed your purchase with pre-tax HSA/FSA funds.
No weird paperwork. No waiting for weeks. TrueMed handles the verification and compliance process so families can focus on what matters: getting outside together.

What’s Eligible: Alpha, Zulu, and Bravo
Every bike in Prevelo’s lineup qualifies. That includes the Alpha series of all-purpose bikes, the Zulu mountain range, and the Bravo dirt jump series, all designed around real geometry and proper sizing, not “kid-scaled” adult frames. We’re fans of Prevelo; they received our Gear of the Year for the Zulu—excellent bikes and quality.
The lineup covers 12″ to 26″ wheels, including the Alpha Zero balance bike, the perfect first-step machine that helps kids learn balance before pedals ever enter the picture.

A Tax Break for Healthy Habits
“With more families feeling the pinch from rising costs, we’re excited to offer our bikes for tax-exempt purchase,” said Prevelo CEO Jacob Rheuban. “Physical activity is one of the best investments you can make for your family’s health. If we can make that easier to access, it’s a win for everyone.”
Prevelo’s partnership with TrueMed gives families a way to buy class-leading kids’ bikes tax-free, turning health savings accounts into adventure accounts. We are happy to see it!
