Our boy Rob Morgan, who recently reviewed the Velocite Magnus road bike, just got his hands on the 2011 Teschner 703 Aero bike. Teschner, which only just came available in the U.S. in August, is a fairly big brand in founder Peter Teschner’s hometown of Byron Bay, Australia.

It came in as a frameset, so the build here is his shop’s doing, but we’ve got some more photos after the break, including the full frame on the scale…

…wait for it…

That would be 5.38lbs, which includes the aero carbon seatpost, clamp, saddle clamp, headset, chainstay protector and cable protectors.  Not included in the weight but coming with the bike are the front and rear brake calipers and bolts.

The Teschner 703 Aero (it’s also available in a Track version) uses full internal cable routing, an eccentric BB so it can run a 65mm BB drop for road riding and 55mm drop for track, sliding rear dropouts and a hi-mod carbon frame.  Full review coming later.

Very cool. What are the dropouts like?

The front fork looks backwards, but clearly it’s not. Wonder what that does to the ride…

Seems like a pretty damn trick machine.

I’d like to see a pic of the brakes…

I have ridden the 703 several times now, it is super fast, very smooth, very stable handling over the front end. Very sweet on the build as well, the internal cable routing set up well with no problems which is not always the case with some of the internal routed bikes. Rear dropouts are horizontal and adjustable.

i purchased one of these frames a short time ago after lots of searching for something to replace my P2 cervelo. Like bill when i first saw the fork i was hesitant as to what it would handle like but it actually handles (this will hurt to say ) way better than my P2! i . I am stil playing around with it and personalizing it but so far i am impressed and have had some good results. The clincher for my purchase was when out of the blue i received a call from Peter Teschner just for a chat and to see if he could answer any questions i may have had. Try getting that from other company owners !!
