Short ‘n’ sweet is how we’d sum up this bike check. Pro rider Amanda Miller rides for Boulder Cycle Sport/YogaGlo and finished a mere 28 seconds behind Katie Compton to take second place at the 2017 USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships. She races a mostly stock Focus Mares CX outfitted with mostly SRAM/Zipp parts…

With a SRAM Force 1 drivetrain, the stock chain catcher from Focus would be pure overkill, so she’s running a K-Edge Cross Single XL chain guide to keep things from bouncing out of place. Crank Brothers Candy pedals easily took the win for most pedal spec.

Prologo placed the saddle…

…and a Quarq computer mount puts her Garmin in safe view.

We spoke with Amanda the day before the race and she was (like everyone else) playing wait-and-see before deciding on tires. The two top choices were the Clement BOS (mud) and LAS (frozen, hardpack). Follow along with Amanda on Facebook and Twitter.

Why the Garmin mount? Don’t they usually wear Garmin watches to account for bike swaps?
