Daniel Lang Project VELAIA. A ride around the world by recumbent and upright bicycle.

Project VELAIA came to an end earlier this year (before we ever had a chance to follow it). The website: http://www.velaia.de is still up and is full of amazing pictures and stories from the trips. (Picture above taken in Tibet, Click for larger view)

Here’s what we missed: Daniel Lang was a 23yr old thinker, environmentalist, photographer and outdoor adventurer. Lang decided to go around the world by recumbent and upright bike to spread the word of environmental stewardship and sustainability. Before even starting the project, Lang road an epic journey of more than 17.000km from Paris to Beijing as a rider of the Beijing to Paris 2007 Car-free Rallye.

In his Travelouge, Lang tells the stories of his adventures as he rides through various parts of the world. Meeting people and cultures that most of us will never experience. He logged over 40,000km in 5 continents.

You can still read many of this stories and see this pictures on the VELAIA site, on Flickr and on YouTube.
