Among some other trinkets Peter Keiller, owner of Misfit Psycles up in CanadiaLand, manages to put together between rambling incoherently on his blog, this full size kid’s diSSent KD mountain bike popped up just after Interbike. Then he posted it on Facebook and now it looks like he may actually have to (or at least pretend to want to) build it. Consider us interested. Highly interested. And Peter, we’ll be happy to post some specs, pricing and other info on it when you feel like sending us the info. We can say this with some degree of certainty, it’ll be built up with Hayes bits and pieces, most likely including a Manitou fork, Answer pedals and Hayes hydraulic disc brakes and such, for any complete bikes. And it’s singlespeed. Oh, and the frame weight is about 3lb 6.5oz.

Single speeds are a really bad idea for kids. Ever wonder why juniors have gear restrictions for track and road racing? Pushing a really hard gear, which will be unavoidable while MTBing on a single speed, can damage a juniors IT bands. If you don’t believe me look at triathletes, they didn’t have gear restrictions for their juniors and a heap of them all ended up with wrecked IT bands.
