SCOTT’s Addict RC: Redefining Lightweight Performance

Launched in late 2024, the New Addict RC has quickly made waves as one (if not the) lightest production road bike on the market. Weighing just 5.9kg in its Ultimate build ($15,000 / 13,000€).

It’s a standout addition to the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team. Adding some lightweight climbing power to the quiver of SCOTT bikes: the Foil RC (check out Dangerholms build here), SCOTT’s aero powerhouse, and the Plasma RC TT, their time-trial specialist.

New Season, New Look

The new bikes reflect the team’s self-proclaimed identity as “Research Scientists” of the peloton. The team states their equipment and design are “inspired by data-driven performance and the pursuit of innovation.” The bold black-and-white color scheme with electric blue accents symbolizes their forward-thinking ethos.

The team debuted the Addict RC during their 2025 training camp in Calpe, where riders praised the bike’s capabilities. Tom Pidcock highlighted its confidence-inspiring handling:

“The Addict RC impressed me from the first ride. It’s light, nimble, and ready to race.”

I’m surprised this bike has tucked the seat tube up against rear wheel, but the down tube and front wheel didn’t get the same treatment. Wouldn’t the aero advantage up front be greater? Colnago did the same thing with their aero bike.

There isn’t really a way to know but as a rule of thumb: you can’t see “aero”. As long as you don’t do your own testing (which no end customer will ever do) all you can do is trust the bike companies’ marketing claptrap.
It remains to add that in case companies provide figures it will tell you you’ll only benefit if you can reach the speed level pros do but you can’t.
