Thinking of going shorter with your crankarms? You’re not alone. As mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes have evolved, crank lengths have gotten shorter. Those shorter arms provide better trail clearance to reduce the risk of pedal strike, but can also improve bike fit and potentially reduce knee pain. Some, like Race Face claim that shorter cranks also improve descending performance.

As a result, Race Face is going shorter for their Era carbon and Turbine aluminum crank arms. Both models gain a 160mm crank arm length option, giving riders the choice of 160, 165, 170, or 175mm lengths.

You’ll find the Turbine cranks priced at $180 and the Era cranks priced at $499, both are sold without chainrings or bottom brackets.
