New(ish) mountain bike manufacturer, Radical All Mountain, has released its debut frame; the Radical All Mountain Chilli Dog. The Chilli Dog is a 29″ hardtail with an aggressive set of geometry figures that will surely tempt the hardcore hardtail contingent out there. This Reynolds steel frameset is long, low, and slack, leaving you with little to no excuse not to ride it as hard as your full bouncer.
Radical All Mountain Chill Dog Hardtail
Radical All Mountain are a relatively new brand to step onto the UK scene, starting out in 2020. They did so with the launch of the Chilli Dog hardtail, a 29″ bike built around 150mm fork travel. Based on the England-Wales border, the team at Radical All Mountain are blessed with some pretty cool places for bike testing, including Dan Atherton’s Dyfi Bike Park. Not only are the frames designed and tested here, they are also fabricated in the UK too.
With the Dyfi and Revolution Bike Parks utilized for testing, it’s no real surprise that the Chilli Dog hardtail sports a rather enduro-worthy set of geometry figures. A 63.5° head tube angle is paired with a 77.5° seat tube angle. Chainstays come up at 432mm allowing sufficient clearance for 2.6″ tires, with a BB drop of 68mm.
Not quite as roomy as a Pipedream Moxie, reach is more on the conservative side measuring up at 455mm in Regular and 495mm on the Long. Seat tubes are short and straight, allowing full insertion of 200mm dropper seat posts on both sizes.
The frame comes together with a mix of Reynolds 853, 631 and 525 steel tubing, chosen to deliver a balance between strength, compliance and weight. We’ll have a claimed weight for you shortly. All of the materials are UK sourced, with the exception of an engineered twin yoke, where each yoke is CNC’d out of a single billet of steel in Germany. The frame gets a 73mm threaded bottom bracket, 44mm headtube for tapered steerers, and external cable routing, save for the dropper seat post for which internal routing is available.
