Hammerhead’s newest product isn’t lighter, faster, or stiffer. But it is more colorful. Perfect for anyone looking to add a colorful GPS head unit to their bike, Hammerhead Karoo 2 computers now have multiple options when it comes to Pantone.

Starting with the computer itself, the new Karoo 2 was announced last August. The successor to the original Hammerhead Karoo, like the original, version two is based on an Android operating system with a big, beautiful color touch screen display. That display features Dragontail glass with an anti-glare coating for visibility in all conditions. Compared to the original, the newer unit is 40% smaller, 33% smaller, but still runs on a quad-core processor with an impressive 2GB of ram and 32GB of onboard storage – 26GB worth is devoted to maps, so you don’t have to download and delete zones all the time when traveling.

After purchasing the computer for $399, you’ll have the option to purchase the new Custom Color Kits for $39 each. These are the outer housing for the computer body that covers three of the four sides. Kits will be offered in five colors, Red (Pantone 3517 C), Blue (Pantone 2184 C), Green (Pantone 2297 C), Orange (Pantone 151 C), and White.

Installation is fairly straight forward, but you will need the included screwdriver to remove two screws from the base of the unit. If you manage to mangle or lose a screw, the kit includes replacements so you’re covered.

Hammerhead Karoo 2 looks great! I wonder when v3 will be released and excited to see how much more refined it’ll be.

IMO, Garmin needs a revamp of it’s Edge lineup as the OS is really old and loads of legacy stuffs that probably is slowing down development
