rei recreational equipment inc recalls their novara trionfo road bike today due to risk of the carbon fiber bicycle fork potentially separating from the steerer tube at the crown

Oddly, this isn’t  listed on REI’s own website, but the LA Times is reporting that the Novara Trionfo road bike is being recalled because the carbon fiber fork may separate from the steerer tube and cause a potentially harmful wreck.

The bikes in question are a 2005 model and involves about 260 actual bicycles.  Owners should immediately stop riding the bike and return it to a REI retail store for a free repair. The bikes sold for $720 to $1,900 in REI stores from January 2005 to August 2006.

For more information, consumers can contact REI at (800) 426-4840 or online at www.rei.com.
