Ritchey Skyline ergonomic alloy road bike handlebar
This all-new Ritchey Skyline ergo road handlebar pulls together pretty much every ergonomic feature that Ritchey Logic has been putting in drop bars for the last few decades. They are calling it the result of Tom Ritchey’s ‘research’ of “several decades of riding at least 10,000 miles per year” to fine-tune true endurance fit & comfort, with durability to handle some off-tarmac riding and cyclocross, too.
With their signature no-nonsense simplicity, you get an anatomical bend with size-specific progressing compact drop & reach and swept shaping to “make it the most ergonomic Ritchey road bar on offer“.
Tech details
Up top, you get a large oversized ergonomic bar shape to rest your hands with 4.5° of backsweep coming after the straight central 31.8mm clamping area.
Then the drops themselves have a subtle 5° of flare to make room for your wrists when riding in a deeper tuck. And the drops themselves are a segmented anatomic bend with a short horizontal extension at the ends, a flat angled section for your hand in the conventional tuck, then a compact bend back up to the tops.
The Skyline bars come in four sizes 38, 40, 42 & 44cm (measured center-center at the hoods) and grow 1.3cm wider at the drops with their flare. The narrower two bars stick with a compact 70mm Reach & 115mm Drop, while the larger bars ad another 5mm in each step for a more size-adapted fit. The bar features external cable routing grooves, but does have drilling for a Di2 bar end junction box.
Ritchey Skyline – Pricing, options & availability
The new Skyline bar is available in two spec levels. The top-tier $110 / 110€ Ritchey WCS Skyline bar is made from triple-butted 7050-T6 alloy to save weight – claimed 250g for a 42cm bar. And the affordable $55 / 55€ Ritchey Comp Skyline bar is made from a more budget-friendly double-butted 6061 alloy to keep costs low – claimed 295g for a 42cm bar.
Both bars are available now through retailers, Ritchey directly, and will start showing up on complete bikes.
